Boobie Trap is a top heavy, kitsch heavy hangout on the corner of Irving and Bleecker Streets Bushwick.
Beer, board games, and boobs, what’s not to like about this iconic Bushwick dive bar? From the moment you enter Boobie Trap, you will feel at home, greeted by friendly staff, a well-stocked bar complete with a naked torso fitted with twin beer taps as its ovaries, and a blackboard loaded with dirt-cheap dranks specials.
Dirty 70s punk classics, early 80s new wave, and more recent underground tunes are the soundtrack to what will most likely end in a messy search for fatty treats. Luckily the owners also are responsible for the local fave, Pizza Party just across Irving.
The décor is heavy on the kitsch. There’s a fair number of mammaries featured – as the name would suggest. Think 1950s nostalgia, pin-ups, B-movie posters and topless coloring in books and you’d be on the money.
Battle it out while drinking the house margarita at any of the tables by the windows. They all have classic board games below a layer of glass. On the bar is Hungry, Hungry Hippos. Who would have thought as an adult we’d still be playing that over sticky sweet drinks?
Finally, you’ll notice in-your-face slogans that punch you verbally in the nose. This take-no-prisoners snark is delivered with good-humor but an unspoken “don’t fuck with us attitude.” Think we’re not serious? They have a wall of shame including “Shit Yelper of the Month” who they verbally pillory on the social platform for having the audacity to give them a negative review. For all the attitude, it’s a fun dive bar that suits its grungy edge-of-gentrification locale.
